A Roman Marble of Leda and the Swan, 100-200 A.D.

Leda is the wife of Tyndarus, king of Sparta, who according to legend, after having relations with him, while walking along the river Eurotas, Zeus turned into a swan seduced her and had relations with her. From these relations arose 4 children, two of the mortal husband, Tyndarus and two of the god Zeus. It is a motif rarely depicted, but very recurrent in Renaissance painting.
