Egyptian upper fragment of stone dignitary sculpture, Mid Empire, 2050-1650 B.C.

DESCRIPTION
Upper fragment of a sculpture representing a nobleman, surely seated. He wears a wig, from which his ears come out, and a suit that covers his chest. The Middle Empire began with the reunification of Egypt and the royal power under Mentuhotep II, in the middle of the 11th Dynasty. It was also a time of expansion from Syria to Nubia. From the Middle Empire, a magnificent Egyptian literature of pessimistic sign is preserved, which places the horizon of political references in the Ancient Empire, that is to say, it looks with nostalgia at the greatness of the Ancient Empire. This will produce an imitation of the models of the Ancient Empire.
