Roman marble sculpture of head of the goddess “Venus”, 2nd century A.D.

This piece, of small dimensions, is a great example of the mastery they acquire with marble. It represents the goddess Venus or Aphrodite, goddess of beauty and love. This fragment of sculpture in which we see the head of Venus is magnificent, with the hair gathered and combed in two parts retained with a diadem and the curls marked, this goddess retains the depth of the gaze of Ancient Rome. The creation of this work is in keeping with the High Imperial period, a time when portraits of historical figures predominated, as in the case of this goddess of Roman mythology.
