Roman askos ram shaped, Red ware pottery, 300 A.D.

This piece is an askos, a ceramic vessel that was used to contain and pour small quantities of liquid, especially oil, as they were used to fill the lamps. Normally they contain a handle in the superior part and a spout mouth in an end, this is especially curious since it has form of ram and a weft modeled in ceramic.
