Description
The morphology of Dressel 2-4 amphorae is characterised by an outwardly thickened rim, a truncated cone-shaped or elongated cylindrical neck, and a generally cylindrical body, although sometimes fusiform or ovoid in shape, resting on a solid pivot. The handles have a characteristic bifurcated section and a right-angled profile, and rest on the shoulders, which usually have a pronounced hump.
