The bust of emperor Antoninus pius in the press

During the last days of November 2021, the newspapers of the art scene in southern Spain have been commenting on the sale of the Roman bust of Antoninus Pius. Different articles have been published, among them:

“The bust of the Roman emperor Antoninus that appeared in Huelin is for sale”.

Subsequently, the journalist Sotorrío published
“The Academy of San Telmo demands the Junta to buy the bust of Antoninus for La Aduana”.

And in the last publication, the Junta de Andalucía stated:
“The Junta wants to buy the bust of Antoninus Pius for La Aduana”.

In the last article, Regina emphasizes:


“The bust of Antoninus Pius is closer to stay definitively in Malaga. The Junta reacts to the call of the city and takes the initiative to acquire the sculpture of the Roman emperor found in Huelin, now for sale by its owner Vicente Jimenez Ifergan. Sources from the Ministry of Culture confirm to this newspaper that both parties have begun talks to set the terms of the purchase of this Asset of Cultural Interest, the only imperial portrait that is preserved from Roman Malaga.”
